The Canadian Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association (CHFCA) welcomes Eastward Energy as an Industry Member

Dartmouth – The Canadian Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association (CHFCA) is pleased to welcome Eastward Energy to the association as an Industry Member.

Eastward Energy is a Nova Scotia-based company that operates a full regulation-class natural gas distribution franchise in Nova Scotia. Eastward Energy distributes natural gas through its distribution system to all or part of seven counties in Nova Scotia, including the Halifax Regional Municipality.

With a vision of an energy-resilient Nova Scotia with an abundance of clean, affordable energy, Eastward Energy believes in two foundational principles to help achieve net zero by 2050, Energy Efficiency and Conservation, and Cleaner Electricity and Gas, e.g., renewable electricity, renewable natural gas, and hydrogen.

“Eastward Energy is excited to join the CHFCA and we’re looking forward to working together to support the development of low-carbon hydrogen in Nova Scotia,” said John Hawkins, President of Eastward Energy. “Our world is changing, energy is changing, and Eastward Energy is changing. We’re focused on the future of sustainable energy by developing innovative solutions that Nova Scotia will need as it transitions to net-zero emissions. Low-carbon hydrogen will be an important part of this energy transition, especially to decarbonize sectors that will be difficult to electrify, such as heavy transportation, marine vessels, and high-temperature industrial processes.”

“We are thrilled to announce that Eastward Energy has joined the CHFCA as a new member,” says Ivette Vera-Perez, President and CEO of the CHFCA. “As a leading gas supplier in Nova Scotia, we are confident that Eastward Energy is positioned to become a leader in the deployment of clean hydrogen solutions for hard-to-abate sectors. The CHFCA is excited to collaborate with them in our shared journey towards a net-zero future.”
