The CHFCA welcomes Hycamite TCD Technologies Ltd. as a New Start-Up Member

VANCOUVER —The Canadian Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association (CHFCA) is pleased to announce Hycamite TCD Technologies as a Start-Up Member.

Hycamite TCD Technologies is a leader in emission-free methane pyrolysis technology. Hycamite decarbonises industry through its low-carbon hydrogen, novel solutions for hydrogen storage and transport, and provision of sustainable carbon products for demanding industrial applications.

Hycamite technology decomposes large volumes of methane into its component elements: hydrogen and carbon. Hycamite’s thermo-catalytic decomposition (TCD) of methane does not release emissions into the atmosphere. Furthermore, its catalysts are sustainable, and Hycamite’s technology requires only 13% of the energy needed to produce hydrogen by electrolysis.

“We are happy to join the CHFCA, because Hycamite is committed to serving its clients in Canada. The advantages of the methave pyrolysis technology are already well-known in Canada and we can provide a solution for growing demand of the Canadian industry”, says Ms Laura Rahikka, CEO and Founder of Hycamite.

“We are pleased to welcome Hycamite to the CHFCA family,” said Ivette Vera-Perez, President and CEO of the CHFCA. Based in Kokkola, Finland, Hycamite has developed an innovative and highly efficient process that converts biogas or methane into significant quantities of hydrogen. It is exciting to witness the growing interest from industry players like Hycamite in Canada’s methane pyrolysis pathway for clean hydrogen production. We eagerly anticipate supporting Hycamite’s growth and success in this endeavor.”

Hycamite’s technology is a cutting-edge carbon capture, utilisation, and storage (CCUS) technology. Hydrogen can be used as an industrial raw material or as fuel. Hycamite’s carbon nanoproducts can be used for demanding applications, including Li-ion batteries, concrete, composite materials, and filter purifiers.

Hycamite is a privately-owned company headquartered in Kokkola, Finland. Hycamite’s methane pyrolysis technology is based on long-standing research in applied chemistry from the University of Oulu, Finland.
