North Vancouver, BC – CHFCA is pleased to announce Salish Elements as a New Start-up Member

Salish Elements is an Indigenously owned company that has been created to partner with First Nations in the development, production, and distribution of renewable energy and clean hydrogen from facilities located on their traditional lands. In particular, Salish Elements’ values are in alignment with Indigenous Coast Salish traditions.

Salish Elements seeks to harness the power of renewable elements to revolutionize the renewable energy industry in BC and bring economic sovereignty and environmental stewardship to First Nations communities. Salish Elements is pursuing several clean hydrogen projects, and the initial site will be based in Lillooet, British Columbia. These plans are a part of Salish Elements’ grand vision of a Landmark Hydrogen Highway from Vancouver to Prince Rupert built with First Nations People on their traditional territories.

Omar Kassem, Executive Director of Salish Elements, spoke about working with the association to advance their commitment to fostering a new culture of economic reconciliation and environmental stewardship in the production of renewable energy: “We’re pleased to be working with CHFCA and its members in our goal to drive the green hydrogen economy produced in true ownership by Indigenous peoples. We aim to foster a new culture of economic and environmental justice through bringing green technology partners and interested Indigenous communities to the table with truth, honor, respect, and dignity for the land and the people.”

“We are delighted to welcome Salish Elements, an Indigenous-owned renewable hydrogen pioneer, to the CHFCA,” said President and CEO of the CHFCA, Ivette Vera-Perez. “Fueled by the power of community participation and ownership of economic opportunities, Salish Elements brings a promise of a sustainable and prosperous future for indigenous communities through hydrogen, and the CHFCA looks forward to supporting the company in this endeavor.”
