The CHFCA is delighted to welcome the City of Terrace as a new Associate member

Terrace, BC – The Canadian Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association is delighted to welcome the City of Terrace as a new Associate member.

Terrace is the hub of Northwestern British Columbia, the service and supply centre for the region. Terrace is an ideal spot for hydrogen production and distribution for long-haul heavy-load equipment as well as the export and import of gas.

Situated in mining’s Golden Triangle with the world’s richest gold mine, the city has many advantages. Its location on the banks of the mighty Skeena River, British Columbia’s second largest river, ensures access to water, thanks to the snow runoff from the North Coast Mountain range.

Terrace is connected by Highways 16 (Trans Canada) and 37, as well as CN Rail service, BC’s fastest rail service from a BC port to the heartland of the US. To the west, Terrace is just 137 km from Prince Rupert, Canada’s third-largest container terminal with the fastest ocean route to Asia. To the east, Terrace is 575 km from Prince George to British Columbia’s centre and forks for highways east through the Rocky Mountains and south to Vancouver, the Okanagan, Vancouver Island, as well the lower 48 States.

Michael Pucci, Lands & Economic Development Manager for the City of Terrace, spoke about the city’s advantages and potential and ambitions for hydrogen development: “The City of Terrace is very excited to have its access to international shipping, green energy supplied greenfield flat land and stable large workforce recognised as the next great location for Hydrogen and Fuel Cell development. Terrace has natural advantages that no other location in Western Canada can provide. The City of Terrace wishes to explore and collaborate with First Nations and the Hydrogen community in developing Terrace as Canada’s West Coast Hydrogen Hub.”

“We are pleased to extend a warm welcome to the City of Terrace as the newest addition to CHFCA,” says Ivette Vera-Perez, President and CEO of the CHFCA. “Naturally poised for hydrogen production, distribution, and the facilitation of long-haul heavy-load equipment, as well as the import and export of gas, Terrace is set to play a pivotal role in advancing British Columbia’s hydrogen economy. We eagerly anticipate collaborating with the City and other regional stakeholders to foster the development of a robust local hydrogen ecosystem.”
