Stephenville, Newfoundland – The Canadian Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association (CHFCA) is delighted to welcome Triple Point Resources as a new Start-up member
Triple Point Resources Ltd. is a Canadian company focused on developing clean energy underground storage solutions for the growing hydrogen economy, supporting the transition to a sustainable energy future.
Triple Point is developing the Fischells Salt Dome located on the west coast of Newfoundland. It is presently the only proven and confirmed Gulf Coast-style salt dome on the east coast of North America, (from Greenland to Florida), suitable for creating salt caverns for hydrogen storage. Salt caverns are artificial cavities created by removing salt from a salt dome. They have a proven track record of safety for more than six decades, are cost-effective, and can store a massive quantity of renewable energy.
Julie Lemieux, CEO of Triple Point says:
“Hydrogen is the key to our global transition to net-zero energy, and storage is the key to a large-scale economy. With a storage potential of over 180,000 tons of green energy, and a strategic location between Europe, the U.S., and eastern Canada, our flagship Fischells Salt Dome project can have a significant impact in the advancement of this industry. It is a game-changer to make Canada a leading producer and exporter on the world stage, it will allow producers to maximize hydrogen production without spatial constraints, help ensure ensuring consistent delivery and mitigating risks linked to purchasing agreements. As a new member of the CHFCA, we look forward to working with your team, and supporting the growth of Canada’s hydrogen industry. Our membership in the CHFCA will allow us to share our experience and contribute to the growth of the hydrogen economy, both in Newfoundland and Labrador, as well as the rest of Canada.”
“We extend a warm welcome to Triple Point Energy as a valued addition to CHFCA’s expanding membership,” says Ivette Vera-Perez, President and CEO of the CHFCA. “Large-scale underground hydrogen storage is vital for building a robust domestic and global hydrogen market. Triple Point Energy’s initiatives within Fischell’s Dome will be a key driver of Canadian exports to Europe. We are excited to collaborate with this innovative company in advancing Canada’s hydrogen sector.”
