Chair, Clean Fuels, HTEC

Sabina Russell is the Vice President of Clean Fuels at HTEC. She is a professional mechanical engineer with 25 years’ experience in the hydrogen sector in a range of technical and commercial roles. Sabina has been on the CHFCA Board of Directors since 2020 and has served as Vice-Chair for the past year.

Prior to joining HTEC, Sabina was the Principal and co-founder of Zen Clean Energy Solutions. She led the firm’s project management department, with a focus on consortium-based projects deploying clean and zero-emission technologies. She also led Zen’s hydrogen strategy work, including the Hydrogen Strategy for Canada on behalf of the Government of Canada, as well as a Maritimes Hydrogen Study for OERA and the BC Hydrogen Study. Prior to starting Zen, Sabina worked with Ballard Power Systems for over 18 years. She ended her tenure at Ballard as Director of Engineering, responsible for developing Ballard’s fuel cell stack and system products. At HTEC, Sabina is responsible for the Clean Fuels department, involving production and liquefaction asset development, production services and partnerships, as well as plant operations.
